Marathi Department

The department of Marathi was established in the year 1970 and became full-fledged in 1974. Akkalkot being a rural and drought prone area situated on the boundary line of Karnataka and Maharashtra States. here majority of the people use Kannada as their link language so we have a lot of difficulties to develop the Marathi department. At the beginning, Late Mr. K.M. Bhande, Dr. N.S. Kunte and Miss. Naregalkar worked and enriched the department Shri. J.G. Khanapure joined the department in 1975. At that time, there were only three students for Marathi Special Course at T.Y. Level. Shri. Talekar O.V. Joined the department in the year1980. Dr. C.D. Kamble Joined the department in the year 2011. Dr. A.G. Malage Joined the department in the year 2017. The students strength of the department has been increasing year after year. In this year students strength of the Marathi department for 1st year is 288 2nd year 87 & 3rd Year 20.

Internal evaluation system adopted

Apart from the university examinations the department has adopted continuous internal evaluation system which helps to get feedback from the students. For this, the department conducts periodical tests, unit wise class tests, Group discussions, class-seminars etc.

Test books, black board, educational CD’s DVD Films, Internet LCD projector etc.

Lecturing, Group discussion, class seminars learner centered Interactive mteractive teaching method supplemented by the use of ICT.

Teaching Plan

Each faculty member prepares topic wise/ unit wise teaching plan at the beginning of the academic year and tries to act upon them.

Healthy / Best practices of the Department

1) Regular department meetings are periodically held for work distribution, sharing of syllabi (papers), preparing teaching plans, conveying the guidelines of the BOS, evaluation of teaching process, updating the reference material, planning certain co-curricular activities and so on.
2) Department diary is maintained recording proceedings of the periodical meetings.
3) Facilities of department library services.
4) Learner- centered teaching with the use of modern ICT tools to meet students expectations.
5) The department has formed the Marathi literary Association for organizing various curricular and co-curricular programmes and competitions for students.
6) Practice of arranging class-seminars and Group Discussions.
7) Releasing the collection of seminar papers in a ceremony.
8) Guest lectures are arranged to students.
9) Encouraging the students to take part in co- curricular activities.
10) The faculty readers counseling and personal guidance to the student.

i. Starting the Marathi Language Laboratory.
ii. Preparation of Modern teaching aids.
iii. Increase the capacity of Departmental library.
iv. To start a certificate course in marathi Grammar and proof - reading.
v. To undertake more numbers of minor and major research projects.
vi. To arrange National level Marathi sahitya sammelan.
vii. To organize the regional Marathi seminar.
