English Department

The College is established in the year 1970 and taking into account the need and growing importance of English language,it introduced English at optional and special level. The Department became full fledged in 1973. Since its inception the Department has got a rich tradition of competent and devoted teachers and has sent out many batches of students who are now serving the society and the nation at large. It is worth mentioning that many of our alumni are found working in the Education field serving as professors and teachers of English.

Internal Evaluation System adopted

Apart from the University Examinations the Department has adopted continuous Internal Evaluation system which helps to get feedback from the students. For this the Department conducts periodical Tests, Unitwise Class Tests, Mid – term Examinations, Pre-annual Exams, Group Discussions, Class – seminars etc.

Teaching Aids Used

Test books, Black-board, Educational CDs, DVD, Films, Internet LCD projector,Smart Boards etc.

Teaching methods

Lecturing, Group Discussion, Class-seminars, Learner central interactive teaching method supplemented by the use of ICT.

Teaching Plan

Every faculty member prepares Topic wise/ Unit wise teaching plan at the beginning of the Academic year and try to act upon it.

Feedback Mechanism

Tests, Home assignments, class-seminars, suggestion Box, Teachers Evaluation by the students, open discussion etc.

Research Activities of the Faculty

Dr. I.M. Khairadi has achieved PhD from Solapur University. Smt. S.M. Paranjape has completed and submitted Minor Research project to U.G.C.W.R.O.

Co-curricular Activities

  1. The Department was the co-organizer of the one-day Regional level Seminar on NAAC Accreditation held on 21st Oct. 2011 in the College.
  2. The Department organizes sightseeing Tours and Excursions.
  3. Periodical class seminars are organized throughout the year.
  4. Students are inspired for writing articles, poems and other creative writings for college magazine & wall paper magazines.
  5. Guest lectures are arranged for students.
